Stats

From dieyoung

In Due Young there's a set of gauges and values displayed on the HUD regarding attributes of both Daphne and the items she's equipped.

Daphne[edit | edit source]

Health[edit | edit source]

It's represented by a red circle in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

A full red circle means that Daphne has 100% of Health. An amount of health is lost every time you receive damage from enemies' attacks, falls or altered statuses. If the gauge reach zero, Daphne dies. Health can be regained using healing items (Medkit, Healing Powder, Restorative Tonic, etc.), eating food (Canned Food, Berries, etc) or resting in a Shelter.

Tip: the damage resistance can be increased wearing protecting gears such as:

Damage resistance can also be customized in the Difficulty settings.

Hydration[edit | edit source]

It's represented by a blue circle in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

A full blue circle means that Daphne is 100% hydrated. The hydration level decreases in time according to different conditions: sun exposure, physical efforts (running, climbing), wearable items. If the gauge reaches zero, your health will start depleting until you die from a heatstroke. Hydration can be replenished by drinking or eating some food (for more information check the Survival paragraph in the Game Mechanics page).

Tip: the Hydration Level can be customized in the Difficulty settings.
Stamina[edit | edit source]

It's represented by a grey-filled circle in the bottom-right corner of the screen. A full grey circle means that Daphne has 100% of Stamina. Stamina decreases every time Daphne does physical efforts: running, climbing, fighting (attacking or blocking attacks) and swimming. When the stamina is getting low (around 20%) the gauge will turn yellow. If it reaches zero, Daphne will stop running, she'll lose her grip during climbing, her attacks will be weaker and slower, she'll not be able to block enemies' attacks and she'll start drowning if she's swimming. When Daphne stops doing physical efforts, the stamina will automatically recover after a few seconds (note that if you keep attacking or blocking, the stamina will not recover). Once the stamina is back to a value above 20%, Daphne will be able to perform physical efforts again.

Stamina consumption can vary depending on the equipment that Daphne's wearing. Some items affects the overall stamina, while others affect it during specific actions (for example, shoes reduce the stamina consumption while running but have no effect in climbing). Moreover, some items can have a positive effect on a specific physical effort and, at the same time, a negative effect on another (for example, Working Gloves reduce stamina consumption in combat, but they are not suitable for climbing).

Tip: Stamina can also be customized in the Difficulty settings.
Statuses[edit | edit source]

While playing Die Young, you may notice some small icons flashing on the bottom-left corner of the screen. These icons inform you that some altered status is affecting Daphne's stats.

Weapons & Tools[edit | edit source]

Durability[edit | edit source]

Most of the Weapons & Tools in the game has a durability attribute. It is shown as a gauge both in the upper-left of the item's icon in the HUD and on the bottom of the icon in the Inventory Menu. The meter turns from green to yellow to red depending on the current durability status of the item. Every time a weapon or tool is used (by interacting with some other object or, most commonly, to hit an enemy) its durability is reduced by a fixed amount, depending on the action or hit target. Items cannot be repaired and when the meter reaches zero, they break and they get removed from the inventory.

Each tool has it's own Durability. In general, Crafted Items are several times weaker than the "ready-to-use" version of the same item (check to Melee Weapons Stats page for details). Later in the game you can acquire a Crafting Toolkit, an Accessory that makes crafted items as durable as the "ready-to-use" ones.

Tip: Durability can be customized in the Difficulty settings.

Canteen[edit | edit source]

Capacity[edit | edit source]

Canteen's storage capacity is represented by both a number and a meter on the HUD. The number on the right is the maximum capacity of the Canteen, while the one on the left is the current units of water stored (one unit completely replenish the hydration gauge). The meter on the upper-left corner of the icon visually shows weather the Canteen is empty or full.

Tip: collect more Canteens to increase the water storage capacity.
